The Dreaming festival was a fantastic indigenous, multicultural and international event at the Woodford Folk federation site in Woodford. There were some interesting health and healing tents there from New Zealand and America as well as the Australian bush medicines and cultural healing practices.
Traditional medicines are effective and appropriate medicines that we would all do well to embrace in our lives. If there is a plant that grows locally and it has medicinal value, then please make the effort to use that plant if you can. If you want know of the traditional use of a certain plant then talk with the locals and ask them how this plant can be used. The dreaming festival brought together many Australian cultures from across the country who had diverse and complimentary cultures. This is a true international event that we highly recommend. The food is fantastic, there are such diverse food stalls and restaurants set up throughout the festival and this is truly a foodies experience. Bars operate throughout the festival and also the camping areas are very comfortable with hot and cold running water with great showers. Many cultures are represented in the festival with fantastic music, quality art galleries, drama, theatre, dance and movies running across the venues from early morning until late in the evening. There is a special childrens’ area where they can play cultural games and participate in workshops. The dreaming festival is on the long weekend in June each year at Woodford Folk federation site just north of Brisbane. Come along next year for a truly uplifting, and awesome festival.
