National Institute of Complementary Medicine
Consultation Forums
8 August 2007
In June of this year the National Institute of Complementary Medicine (NICM) was launched. With government funding it aims to increase the profile of research into complementary medicine and assist in communication and collaboration in the research arena.
The Institute has a newsletter which has just been released, aiming to keep everybody up to date. You can download the first couple of issues below, and if you want to subscribe (free) to get it via email in the future, please email Natalie McCarthy by clicking here.
Of particular importance are the Stakeholder Forums being held in late August. This is an opportunity for Practitioners, Researchers, and Industry to have their say in the future shape of NICM. Applications to attend are due by close of business Friday 10th August, so please send this off ASAP if you want to attend.
Representatives of the NHAA Board will be attending both the Practitioner and the Researcher forums to ensure the needs of herbalists and naturopaths are heard in this context.
This is an exciting time for the future of research in complementary medicine in Australia, so please take the time to get involved, subscribe to the newsletter and attend the Forums if you can. A strong practitioner presence will help ensure that the research agenda helps those of us at the coalface of patient care.
