There is a lot of information out now about how our thoughts help to shape our experience of our reality. Positive thinking definitely helps to favorably influence our lives.  Sometimes just thinking positively about a difficult situation may not be enough to transform it. Difficult issues in people’s lives are often caused by negative early childhood trauma.  This trauma usually is highly charged with emotion and then a negative belief is formed around the trauma.  Some of this trauma can even come from a difficult birth and the baby may form a belief that the world is not a safe place. A child could also have a very critical parent and they may form a belief that they are not loved and not worth much.  They could develop low self-esteem and pick relationships that mirror back that they are not good enough.  This is often why some people will continue to pick abusive relationships. Trying to change these highly charged issues with just positive thinking is usually not enough to change these core issues.  What needs to happen to release these negative subconscious patterns is that the negative charge and emotions have to be released and a new belief formed.
